Our activities in 2015
22. July 2016The annual report describes activities and results of the Czech Space Office in 2015. In this period, the most of activities were supported and funded by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Part of the activities was founded by the Operational Programme “Education for Competitiveness” and Horizon 2020.
TARANIS IDEE-A
25. November 2015French satellite TARANIS will be tasked with studying of radiation from atmospheric lightning discharges and from optical phenomena observed between the Earth's troposphere and ionosphere. The IDEE-A unit is designed for the measurement control, storage and processing of the data and their pipelining to the scientific telemetry MEXIC.
TARANIS IME-HF
25. November 2015French satellite TARANIS will be tasked with studying of radiation from atmospheric lightning discharges and from optical phenomena observed between the Earth's troposphere and ionosphere (blue jets, red sprites, halos, elves). The IME-HF will record detailed waveform measurements of fluctuating electric fields in the frequency range from a few kHz up to 37 MHz.

25. November 2015CSRC company and scientists from Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the CTU finalize project ELT. The ELT project is purely Czech contribution to important international experiment ACES. Its major goal is to verify performance of new generation of extremely precise atomic clock in microgravity.
Czech instrument on Mars
24. November 2015The European Space Agency has selected the scientific instruments for the ExoMars mission landing platform for 2018. The WAM wave analyzer to measure changes in the magnetic field is among the six selected experiments. The proposal had been submitted by the scientific team of the Institute of Atmospheric Physics ASCR. The probe with the Czech scientific instrument will be launched in May 7, 2018.

October 2015During the fourth day of the IAC 2105, CSO booth was attended by a number of interesting participants among whom was the director of the Polish Space Agency, the director of the Israeli company C.M.I. or representative of D-Orbit company. Despite the unstable security situation the congress continues without problems.
IAC 2015 - Day Three
15. October 2015During the third day of the IAC 2015, the CSO continued in dialogue with the director of the Chinese company HEAD Aerospace, that plans to visit the Czech Republic in 2016. CSO staff also talked with representatives of the Singaporean company Astroscale that intents to be the first to capture and manage the extinction of malfunctioning satellites.

14. October 2015TThe second day of the Congress IAC 2015 the CSO visited the Israel Aerospace Industries, started a discussion on the possibilities of presentation of Czech workplaces in the newly launched web portal ByHEAD.com, participated in the Executive Committee of the Space Generation Advisory Council and met with representatives of Astrobotic Technology.

4. August 2015U.S. astronaut Scott Edward Parazynski is going to visit the Czech Republic in late August. He was involved in five missions onboard the U.S. space shuttle and seven times stepped into outer space. In Prague he will present his experience at two public lectures that will be held on Monday, August 24 in the building of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

July 2015On 19 June, at the Polytechnic University in Rzeszów, representatives of Polish and foreign institutions arrived to the Forum of space and satellite technologies to discuss the potential of future development of the emerging Polish Space Agency. The discussion participated also Jan Kolář, director of the Czech Space Office.

27. May 2015Atlas 5 rocket with mini space shuttle X-37B and ten cubes was lainched from the Florida spaceport Cape Canaveral in May 20, 2015. There are transponders on satellites PSat A and BRICSat-P that were developed, constructed and tested in the Experimental Satellites Labratory at Brno University of Technology.

14. January 2015A customized lightweight and low-power radiation micro-tracker has been constructed for the satellite RISESAT (Rapid International Scientific Experiment Satellite) which will be launched in 2016. The micro-tracker is equipped with state-of-the-art hybrid semiconductor pixel detector technology developed by the Medipix Collaboration.

15. December 2014The Czech Space Office (CSO) and the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) organise Humans in Space Symposium which is going to take place from June 29 to July 3, 2015. Space medicine, ensuring of living conditions, including necessary and analog simulation studies on Earth are going to be the main topics of the conference.

7. October 2014Czech Space Office has successfully completed its participation at the 65th International Astronautical Congress in Toronto. The time at the Cogress the CSO devoted to promoting Czech aerospace. CSO has also been involved in the activities of the International Astronautical Federation (IAF) of which the CSO director serves as vicepresident.

6. October 2014The last day, the Congress was open to public and the program was also attended by many children and their teachers. The General Assembly has chosen venue of IAC Congress in 2017, the Australian Adelaide. Jan Kolář, the director of CSO, was re-elected for IAF Vice president and we evaluate the Toronto Congress more or less positively.

3. October 2014The fourth day of the Congress was very busy due to negotiations with the IAF and affiliates and discussions carried out during the Congress exhibition. As in previous days, the topic of small satellites came up several times, because its realization and launch today provide dozens of private companies and universities.

October 2014The third day of the Congress began with the extension of range of our promotional materials by American company XCOR Aerospace and it continued with the visit of several university booths and start-up companies focused on building small satellites and presenting a joint poster with colleagues from Kosmonauta.net.
IAC 2014 - Day Two

October 2014Our Tuesday's programme consisted of, in addition to traditional presentation at the booth, participation in the plenary session of the commercial human space flight, of which exchange of different points of view of several space industry leaders took place. A great experience was the early evening Highlight Lecture with Professor Bibring presentation of the first scientific results of the ESA Rosetta probe and preparations for the November landing of its module of Philae.

30. September 2014The first day of the Congress, we put together our booth and greeted the first visitors. In contrast to the experience of previous years, the attendance was noticeably smaller, but we hope that the interest in the exhibition will increase during the Congress. In our showcase, this year with the largest number of exhibits, there are product samples from nine of Czech organizations like private companies, Academia and universities.

Teams of high schools students are to develop and manufacture minisatellites, called CanSats, with dimensions of a soft drink can with a volume of 330 ml. The final round of the contest is held annually at Andøya Rocket Range in Norway.

4. August 2014The digital slit sun sensor (DSSS) measures the position of the Sun with respect to its axes. It overcomes the disadvantages of the sun sensors used in the past, e.g. on Magion satellites, that were analogue cosine law sensors.This sensor mainly consists from COTS and industrial components and is therefore relatively cheap.
Neutron facilities in the Czech republic

August 2014The project Neutron facilities focused on the evaluation of existing neutron sources in the Czech Republic with respect to preparation of the equipment for testing and calibration of neutron sensitive detectors of ESA. The main goal was to provide a comprehensive measurement, test and calibration of neutron sensitive devices intended for space research.
