Sentinel-2: SPECTRA

The main goal of the Sentinel-2: SPECTRA project was to design and test the operational algorithm for quantitative estimation of the green foliar pigments in canopies of Norway Spruce stands from spectral image data of satellite instrument CHRIS and future Sentinel-2 missions. The experiment in the mountainous region of the Czech Republic helped to design a new procedure for retrieving precise data on the health of spruce forests.

AMI4FOR

The project’s main objective was to set up new concept for Ambient Mobile Intelligence for Forest and Agriculture Management by means of integrated mobile communication, new navigation method and integration of spatial information (e.g. satellite imaging).

DOBIES

The objective of the DOsimetry of BIological Experiments in Space (DOBIES) project was to develop a standard dosimetric method as a combination of different techniques to estimate absorbed dose, dose equivalent and linear energy transfer (LET) spectrum in biological samples irradiated in space.

GRID TECHNOLOGY

The GRID project has demonstrated the effective use of Grid technologies for processing of radar data from satellites Envisat ASAR sensor. This was achieved by porting of miscellaneous SAR data handling SW packages to Grid and by development of related high level SAR-based functionality available to users through the “Grid Processing-On-Demand” (G-POD) web portal.

GSE RESPOND

The purpose of the GSE RESPOND project is to support the effective international humanitarian aid in areas affected by natural disasters and other emergencies with the help of suitable and reliable maps and satellite images. There was created amount of mapping products, which are used in the countries of the African continent, the Middle East and Asia.

Advanced SCOS-2000 monitoring

The aim of the SCOS-2000 Advanced Monitoring project was to verify latest technologies for monitoring and visualization of telemetry data and commands in the satellite system SCOS-2000. The project also addressed the application of the resulting analysis and prototypes in the context of a new European Ground Operation Software architecture (EGOS).

Proba-2 TPMU

An instrument for measuring thermal plasma in space TMPU was designed and developer at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics AS CR. The flight model was manufactured also by the company Czech Space Research Centre (CSRC) in Brno. The device will capture scientific data for research of thermal plasma in the vicinity of the Earth.

PROBA-2 DSLP

The Dual Segmented Langmuir Probe (DSLP) is one of the four scientific experiments on board the ESA satellite Proba-2. The DSLP instrument has been developed and manufactured in the Czech Republic by a scientific-industrial consortium.

IIM-TS

Project Image IIM-TS has extended the capabilities of system for satellite images analysis (KEO - Knowledge-centered Earth Observation), which is carried out at the ESA ESRIN, by comparision of images in the time sequence. These methods are useful particulary for the change detection.

First year in ESA

The data of Czech Space Office (CSO) show that in early 2010 there were 14 contracts signed between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Czech workplaces because of incentive program for Czech industry. The research leader for five of them, which were recommended, is the Czech Technical University or Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and for the eleven ones are the private companies.
