Epoxy Core

The syntactic epoxy foam designed for use in space was developed in the Epoxy Core project. As part of the sandwich composites for launchers it significantly reduces its total weight. Saving material is crucial for this area. At the same time, the foam retains parameters defined in the project.

ACES-ELT

CSRC company and scientists from Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the CTU finalize project ELT. The ELT project is purely Czech contribution to important international experiment ACES. Its major goal is to verify performance of new generation of extremely precise atomic clock in microgravity.

Gamma-ray calibration facility

Cosmic ray consists of many types of radiations and particles, the example is gamma-ray, which consists of energetic photons. The task of this project was to develop ESA’s reference station, on which would be possible to measure and calibrate the equipment prepared for spacecraft used for gamma-ray detection.

Mechanism industrialization

Frentech Aerospace has completed testing of solar array deployment mechanism. The mechanisms had to be made in accordance with defined procedures and met all the technical specifications for use in space. All three pieces of mechanisms passed through the demanding tests.

Space year 2013

Czech astronautics made big achievements linked to two important projects. Modified detectors Timepix are going to be lifted off in April on ESA Proba-V. In the early summer time, three Swarm satellites are expected to be put onto their orbits.

NAOMI

In the NAOMI project there was handled the design and production of spectral filter prototype based on calomel, which would be compatible with the imager on a small satellite. Calomel is a material that is because of its charakteristics suitable for use in acousto-optical tunable filters - AOTF.

SWAN

The SWAN activity was related to the new ESA concept of the Common Monitoring and Control Platform (CMCP) for both the Mission Control System (MCS) and the Ground Station Monitoring & Control system (GSMC). The goal of the SWAN study was to identify the current design limitations of SCOS-2000 and suggest its software extension with a number of features needed for the GSMC.
