Vladimír Kopal passed away

Prof. JUDr. Vladimír Kopal DrSc. passed away on 27 January 2014 at the ripe age of 85 years. He was a world and former Czechslovakia pioneer of international space law, who had became an icon tahnks to his long career at the United Nations and Czech academic environment.

CSO celebrates its tenth anniversary

Dnes si připomínáme desetileté výročí! Nezisková organizace, kterou v listopadu 2003 založil Jan Kolář, se zasloužila o znovuvzkříšení českého kosmického výzkumu a napomohla ke vstupu České republiky do ESA. Do budoucna se plánujeme zapojit komerčních cest do vesmíru a zprostředkovat vznikající příležitosti české veřejnosti.

XCOR Aerospace cooperation

The Czech Space Office announced today the signing of an exclusive agreement with XCOR Aerospace. The agreement authorizes the CSO to become an Authorized Payload Integrator of XCOR’s Lynx®, a rocket-powered suborbital spacecraft currently being built at XCOR’s headquarters in Mojave, California.

IAC 2013 was a success

Czech Space Office has returned from the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Beijing and has had an intense week filled with meetings, promotion of Czech space and activities arising from membership in the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), in which the Director of the Czech Space Office holds the position of vice president.

World Space Week 2013

In the week of 4 - 10 October 2013 the fifteenth time global celebration of astronautics and space exploration World Space Week is going to take place. Czech Space Office that coordinates its activities in Czech Republic, invites all the organizations which are dealing with popularization of astronautics for active participation.

Czech Space Catalogue 2013

In December CSO updated its space catalogue, which lists Czech industry, universities and academia interested or even experienced in collaboration on space projects. First edition, which was published two years ago, received considerably high interest by the international community. Second and updated issue now includes 78 entries and is accompanied by a simple map of individual locations.

Heading towards Jupiter

ESA finalized the selection of the scientific hardware for JUICE probe with an objective of detailed planetary research of Jupiter and its moons. The probe will carry on-board 11 scientific instruments with co-developments provided also by Czech researchers. JUICE is going to start its journey in 2022 and is expected to reach Jupiter by 2030.
