PRODEX Programme

The main objectives of the ESA PRODEX Programme (PROgramme de Développement d'EXpériences scientifiques) are to provide funding for the industrial development of scientific instruments or experiments, proposed by Institutes or Universities in the Participating States, that have been selected by ESA for one of its programmes in the various fields of space research (science, microgravity, Earth observation, etc).
From the PRODEX programme, the development of both hardware and software including preparatory studies can be funded. Also the scientific exploitation of the data received from these instruments can be supported, although it is not the main priority.
The Czech Republic joint the PRODEX programme right at the accession to the ESA Convention in November 2008 and the Czech subscription to PRODEX budget is 3 million Euro until 2015, which corresponds to 2,7 million EUR available for contracts.
The assessment of PRODEX project proposals from the national benefits perspective is done by the Czech PRODEX Committee (CPC), an expert group delegated by the Czech Minister of education. The CPC consists of seven members representing the major Czech space research and development areas.
