Czech spaceship

Young Czech architect Tomáš Rousek has created for the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration NASA a new spacecraft design with artificial gravity for a mission to an asteroid. Draft of the rotating spacecraft was awarded as the most outstanding innovation conference in August at the "Explore NOW", which was organized by NASA.

First year in ESA

The data of Czech Space Office (CSO) show that in early 2010 there were 14 contracts signed between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Czech workplaces because of incentive program for Czech industry. The research leader for five of them, which were recommended, is the Czech Technical University or Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and for the eleven ones are the private companies.

Space holidays

Thanks to the support of the CSO, Czech students will attend a summer camp at NASA in the American Huntsville, prestigious courses in Germany, Sweden or Italy or the Europe-wide competition in the construction of student satellites in Norway.

100 days till IAC Congress

Current topics of climate change and the use of space technology for environmental monitoring will be few of the main topics of the forthcoming International Astronautical Congress (IAC), which after more than 30 years will take place in Prague at the end of September and which will welcome over 2000 world top scientists. The largest national space agencies like NASA, JAXA and Roskosmos will be also present at the event.

16 new projects for ESA

ESA has recommended the implementation of 16 projects from the 54 under the Incentive Scheme for Czech workplaces. Czech companies, research institutions and universities will participate in research projects in the area of ​​the ground segment, Earth observation, navigation and especially technological solutions with wider use.

EU-ESA conference in Prague

Czech Republic hosted under its presidency of the European Union, the first conference of piloted exploration of the Solar System, which outputs will help to prepare a uniformed position of Europe in this area. Czech Space Office at the conference provided professional support in negotiations of Education Minister Miroslava Kopicová.

IAC 2009 in Korea

On Monday, 12 October 2009, 60th International Astronautical Congress started in Daejong, South Korea, and it is going to go on up the end of the week. The world’s biggest congress targeted on cosmonautics is attended by over 3000 representatives of space agencies, science institutions and industry. The Czech Republic as the next host of the congress is being represented by the Czech Space Office (CSO).

World Space Week 2008

CSO announced that the office of the United Nations in Vienna published the annual report on the World Space Week (WSW) for the year 2008. In this publication the office mentions that the Czech Republic amongst all the 63 countries of the world, which took part in this event connected with cosmonautics, took the first place in the number of events held.
