Continuous report II
Situation at January 2008:
Advanced SCOS-2000 Monitoring
ANF Data activities are part of the international ESA GSTP/PECS project “Advanced Monitoring for a Modern Generic Mission Control System” and its extension called “Consolidation of the Advanced Telemetry Monitoring Subsystem”. The objective of these two projects is to exploit new technologies for the telemetry monitoring and visualization subsystem of the existing ESA mission control system SCOS-2000 and to make use of the outcome of the analysis and prototypes in view of the new EGOS architecture. Both projects have been performed by Siemens Austria as the prime contractor within the GSTP program, and ANF Data as a subcontractor within the PECS program.
Advanced Monitoring for a Modern Generic Mission Control System
ANF Data task in this GSTP/PECS project was the design and implementation of the CORBA based Packet Distribution and Reception Prototype software for the SCOS-2000 monitoring subsystem. The TCP/IP based communication in the existing SCOS-2000 telemetry retrieval and live data chain was replaced by CORBA - Common Object Request Broker Architecture. The project started at the end of calendar year 2004, ANF Data joined the development in January 2005, and the whole project was finished in September 2006. The resulting analyses have been used as input in the following project.
Consolidation of the Advanced Telemetry Monitoring Subsystem
The goal of this ongoing GSTP/PECS activity is to apply results of the previous analysis and prototypes in the context of the new ESA Ground Operation System Architecture (EGOS). Within this project ANF Data participates on the following work packages: Command Supervisor - development of a new SCOS-2000 subsystem which enables operators to monitor all commanding activities, regardless whether they are located on or off-site. The Command Supervisor is able to collect the state of all command sources and distribute this information to all interested parties. Data Transfer Library - development of a new EGOS software library supporting transfer of structured data between end points in a word size (32/64) neutral and platform independent way. Data Management Library - development of a new EGOS software library supporting management of telemetry and telecommand data Development of the Command Supervisor was started in January 2006, delivery to ESA was done in March 2007 and its final presentation took place at ESOC in May 2007. The Data Transfer and Management libraries were delivered to ESA for testing in September/November 2007. The final delivery of complete software and documentation is expected in March 2008, after the warranty period ends.
The whole project was presented in June 2007 at the European Ground System Architecture Workshop (ESAW) in Darmstadt.
