GMES in the Czech Republic

GMES in the Czech RepublicStarting in May 2006, Czech Space Office actively works on wide range of activities to ensure successful implementation of GMES in the Czech Republic.
CSO works in this field on two principal levels. One is based on awareness raising activities to present all possible benefits of GMES for institutions, academy and industry. Hand in hand with activities to help interested organisations to get involved in GMES projects. Here we work with a close cooperation with the Technological Centre of the Academy of Science, which is responsible for GMES under 7th framework programme funding schemes. Together with these internal activities we are in a close cooperation with responsible ministries to make GMES fully integrated into a standard agenda. As an example of our activities, CSO co-organised in September 2008 big information day to present opportunities in 2 space call of FP7. However, the biggest event is planned for March 2009, when under Czech Presidency of the EU, CSO organises big GMES event to present recent and future benefits focusing on new EU member states.
The other basis of our activities is external representation of the Czech Republic. CSO is representing Czech Republic in GMES Advisory Council (GAC) and in many other formal or informal bodies on EU level.
