First SSETI Swarm workshop
Between 17th and 19th February 2009 students participating in the Swarm project met for the first time outside of SSETI's online resources. This meeting took place at the Concurrent Design Facility (CDF) at the Italian Space Agency (ASI) in Rome, Italy. During these three days, students from various engineering and legal fields worked together under supervision of experts provided by the ASI. Ilustration On-Board Data Handling OBDH module.

The team from Czech Technical University in Prague participates in the Swarm project as well and it is responsible for design, building and verification of On-Board Data Handling OBDH module. One team member was present at that workshop.
Various points of the Swarm project, such as mission phases, structure design, selection of sensors, communication solutions or subsystem total masses were analyzed and sometimes finalized. Moreover, many legal and management aspects of this project, such as cost, optimization of work scheme and legal agreements were discussed. This event enabled the Swarm project to move into Phase B, which should happen over next few weeks.
