STATUS: Running

SOSI is comprised of 3 main projects in 3 countries of the EU. The overall aim is to demonstrate deployment of ESA’s Service Support Environment (SSE) technology for land cover/land use data with multiple national data sets, and the interconnectivity of multiple geographically dispersed service nodes, each containing local land-cover data.  The two complementary projects are based in Austria and Hungary.

The SOSI-CZ project is being developed by ANF DATA spol. s r. o. as the main contractor, with GISAT s. r. o. as a sub-contractor. The project started in October 2008 and its duration is planned until mid-2010.

Within the context of the multi-national SOSI endeavour the aim of SOSI-CZ is to demonstrate a CZ-national SOSI portal (SOSI-CZ) based on SSE for access to CZ land-cover data.  A further aim is to independently demonstrate access to locally received MERIS data.  An evaluation of a land-cover classification product supplied by the customer is to be performed on the MERIS data, and selected outputs of the classification are to be made available via the SSE portal service. It is envisioned that by using the capabilities already provided by the SSE, the local CZ land cover data should then also be available through the other national portals and vice versa.

The project is intended as demonstration of technology, with a demonstration period limited to 6 months after deployment.

The design of the system was completed and the relevant documents were delivered: the Architectural Design Document, the Interface Control Document, and the Acceptance Test Plan and other required supporting documents. Major system components were successfully deployed on the SSE test-portal, with minor fine tuning and small completion work remaining to be done going forward, as well as preparation and transfer of the system to the operational portal, full acceptance testing and completion of documentation.  The deployment successfully demonstrates interoperability of the distributed components through the SSE portal, and applicability of the SSE portal for enabling access to local as well as distributed satellite-image based and derived data.  Chaining of services is also successfully demonstrated by this system. The MEEO soil mapper benchmark was performed and a report was delivered.
